DAEDULUS

DAEDULUS
The legendary Athenian who made wings so that he and his son Icarus could fly over the Aegean. Daedulus accomplished this journey successfully, but Icarus flew too close to the sun, melting the wax of his wings, and plunging to his death. The mythological theme was popular in Etruscan iconography.
