PITHEKOUSSAI (ISCHIA)

PITHEKOUSSAI (ISCHIA)
The island off Naples settled by the Euboean Greeks in the middle of the eighth century BC. The island is best known from its cemeteries, but excavations have also provided important evidence of trade, metalworking (including ore derived from Elba), and pottery production. The island is important for the understanding of early Etruscan relations with the Greek world.
